Casey Berna MSW- Endometriosis and Infertility Advocate & Counselor: Casey's and accomplished speaker and author, penning numerous articles and being asked to present or speak at multiple conferences, marches, and rallies. She’s a social worker who has dedicated her career to working with in Dmitri osis and infertility patients. She has spent time in private practice doing individual and group therapy with patients and also has worked with various endometriosis and in fertility nonprofits on leading advocacy initiatives. She has restarted her NC Endometriosis Support Group

ENDOMETRIOSIS & EMOTIONAL/MENTAL HEALTH and SELF CARE

Julia Mandeville -earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with Microbiology from the University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus Barbados in 2010. After spending her childhood and early adult years in Barbados, she relocated to the USA. Prior to this transition, she was a high school science and health educator for the eight years in Barbados. She also holds a Master of Public Health with a specialization in Global Health from the University of Manchester, Manchester in the United Kingdom (2017) and certificates in Gender and Development (2017) and NGO Management (2018) from the University of the West Indies.

In 2016, Julia co-founded the Barbados Association of Endometriosis & P.C.O.S. (BAEP) and is responsible for developing the programmatic activities of the organization and overseeing multiple administrative and technical processes. Julia’s advocacy and research foci have been women’s health, gender, sexual and reproductive health and rights using the elements of the human rights-based approach in order help others improve their health-related quality of life. She was the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Program Development Assistant for a Caribbean Vulnerable Communities /Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (CVC/OECS) -funded pilot project in 2017.

She provided technical assistance and developed aspects of the curriculum and supported program development. During a 2018 internship at the United Nations Multi-Country Office for Barbados and the OECS in Barbados, she worked on a team which directly supported the coordination and development of cross-agency and cross-cultural activities of 24 agencies in multiple Caribbean territories.

She is the Principal Investigator of a recently concluded research project that aims to describe and characterize the incidence and impact of symptoms of menstrual health disorders on daily life, and to estimate the direct and indirect costs of managing symptoms among women currently living in Barbados.

Currently, Julia lives in Northern Virginia and is program analyst for a non-profit public health organization based in Washington DC and will be starting her doctoral studies in public health this fall.

MENSTRUAL HEALTH & ENDOMETRIOSIS

VALARIE CAREY REAVES-BEY is a retired New York City Police Sergeant turned entrepreneur. She is the founder of TOTM! Time Of The Month!® and  author of  calendar series by the same name.

TOTM! Time Of The Month!® (Val’s Word! Publishing) hands out tips and advice for girls and women of all ages who menstruate. Valarie Carey often called Val, conducts TOTM! menstrual wellness workshops for teens, women, and single dads. Reaves-Bey, the “Menstrual Maven” has been seen on The Balancing Act on Lifetime TV, Sistah Talk TV show in NYC, Today NBC, ABC 2020 and other media outlets. She is the host of TOTM! Tea Talk on Blogtalk radio now on Iheartradio.

She most recently collaborated with Lucinda Cross and co-authored The Art Of Activation. Val is a mentor and community activist in her native Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford Stuyvesant.

Val has severed with several national organizations including NOBLE National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.  She currently sits on the Executive Board of Brooklyn CARES, a local chapter of The National CARES Mentoring Movement (NCMM).

ENDOMETRIOSIS & SEX AND INTIMACY

JOHANNA D’ADDARIO, MHS, PA-C (Gynecologic Oncology)

is a 2008 graduate of the Quinnipiac University Physician Assistant Program. She has clinical experience in Hospital Medicine, Primary Care, and Gynecologic Oncology. She also has experience in Patient Safety and PA Education. Johanna's primary interests include genetics, health and wellness, and disease prevention. She joined Yale New Haven Health in 2018 as the coordinator of the Sexuality, Intimacy & Menopause Clinic.

She enjoys helping women with cancer maintain healthy relationships and manage treatment side effects. Johanna is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the North American Menopause Society, and the Scientific Network on Female Sexual Health and Cancer. She is also serves on the Board of the Connecticut Academy of PAs and the Connecticut PA Foundation.

ENDOMETRIOSIS & INFERTILITY (Health disparities/Inequities surrounding women of color)

Tia Jackson-Bey MD, MPH is a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist and board certified obstetrician gynecologist who cares for patients at RMA of New York’s Brooklyn office. Dr. Jackson-Bey’s professional interests include physician-patient education, IVF outcome improvement, global public health, and mentoring underrepresented college and medical students on careers in medicine.

Dr. Jackson-Bey completed her undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. She then earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College Of Medicine, while simultaneously completing her Master’s in Public Health from New York Medical College School of Health Behavior and Practice. Dr. Jackson-Bey completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University Medical Center, and joined RMA of New York shortly after finishing her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Jackson-Bey is passionate about reproductive justice and increasing access to fertility care for all. She was recently appointed a member of the newly formed ASRM Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Taskforce, which will enhance opportunities in reproductive medicine for underrepresented minority populations and reduce health disparities and access to care. Dr. Jackson-Bey is a talented surgeon and dedicated fertility expert, who is focused on fertility preservation, IVF success, and great outcomes for her patients.
